Privacy Policy for National Parks: Passport Guide

This app is developed and published by Code200 (Kenn Lipa).

Last updated: October 15, 2026

This privacy policy applies to the Android app National Parks: Passport Guide (package name com.national.parks.passport, also called Parklers), published on Google Play by the developer Code200. It explains what information the app collects, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have. It also covers the companion web app at app.parklers.com (together with the Android app, the "app").

The developer responsible for the app and for your information is Code200, the Google Play developer account of Kenn Lipa, 3192 Bel Air Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89109-1588, United States. In this policy, "Code200", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Code200 (Kenn Lipa).

Information the app collects and how we use it

Account information (email and login)

To create an account and sign in, you provide an email address and a password (and optionally a name or profile details you choose to add). Sign-up and login are handled by Amazon Cognito, an authentication service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Your password is managed by Amazon Cognito and is not visible to us. We use your account information to create and secure your account, sign you in, sync your passport and photos across devices, and contact you about your account or the Service.

Photos and captions you upload

You can upload photos (for example, from your park visits) and add captions or other text. Uploaded photos, captions and related details (such as the park you associate them with and the upload time) are stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers, including Amazon S3, and delivered through Amazon CloudFront. Photos may be compressed or converted (for example to WebP) to load faster. We access your photo library or camera only when you choose a photo to upload. Content you upload is used to display your passport, collage and park history in the app.

Location

The app shows national parks on a map. The current version of the app does not collect, store or transmit your device's precise or approximate location. If a future version uses your location (for example to show your position on the map or nearby parks), it will only do so after you grant Android's location permission, the location will be used for that feature, and this policy will be updated before that happens.

In-app purchases

In-app purchases in the Android app are processed by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment card or other payment details. Google provides us with information about the purchase (such as the product purchased, a purchase token, order ID, and purchase status) so we can verify the purchase and unlock the content or features you bought. Google's handling of your payment information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

National Park Service data

Park information in the app (such as park descriptions, visitor centers, alerts and images) comes from the U.S. National Park Service (NPS) public API and data. This is public information about parks, not information about you. The app does not send your personal information to the National Park Service.

Technical and log information

Like most online services, our servers and hosting providers automatically record standard technical information when the app makes requests, such as IP address, device and browser type, and date and time of the request. We use this information to operate, secure and troubleshoot the app.

How we share information (third parties)

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the app, and only as needed to provide it:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — account authentication (Amazon Cognito), storage and delivery of photos, captions and app data (for example Amazon S3, CloudFront and related backend services). AWS Privacy Notice.
  • Google — app distribution, in-app purchase processing through Google Play Billing, and in-app advertising through Google AdMob (see "Advertising in the app"). Google Privacy Policy.
  • U.S. National Park Service — source of public park data; no personal information is sent to it.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, Code200 or others.

Data retention

We keep your account information, photos and captions for as long as your account is active, so that your passport and uploads remain available to you. If you delete a photo, it is removed from our storage. When you request deletion of your account, we delete your account and associated photos, captions and profile data from our systems within 30 days, except for limited information we must keep to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or prevent fraud (for example purchase records). Server logs are kept only for as long as needed for security and troubleshooting. Backups, if any, are overwritten in the normal course.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account in the app: open the menu, go to Settings, scroll to the bottom, tap Delete account, and type DELETE to confirm. You can also request deletion by email. Send kennrll18@gmail.com a message from the email address associated with your account, with the subject "Delete my Parklers account". We handle these requests within 30 days. Steps, and what is deleted or kept, are described on the account deletion page. You can also delete individual photos within the app. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.

Security

We use industry-standard measures provided by AWS, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

Advertising in the app (Google AdMob)

If you do not have an active subscription, the app may show ads (for example full-screen interstitial ads) served by Google AdMob. To serve, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects information from your device, such as your device's advertising ID, IP address (from which approximate location may be inferred), device and app information, and how you interact with ads. Google may use this information to show personalized ads, subject to your device settings. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your Android settings (Settings > Google > Ads, or Settings > Privacy > Ads). Subscribers do not see ads. Learn more about how Google uses this data at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

This policy is hosted on our marketing site, parklers.com, which also displays Google ads; Google may use cookies on that site to serve and measure ads.
